In the Independent's list The 50 Best of the 50 Best, published in December, the wonderful tearoom at the Watermill in Little Salkeld was named one of the country's two top tearooms. Not really surprising, it's hard to beat the location, the home baked treats made with home stone ground flour, the lovely room with the stream running outside the window, the wholesome soups...we love it! So – big congratulations to Nick and Ana Jones, who have been running the organic Watermill since the 70s. Considering you can also call ahead and get a tour of the mill, this must surely be one of Cumbria's top foodie destinations.

This is the stream powering the mill.
